Product & Materials Program ![]() Internship Program In 2001 DDL, started an Internship Program for juniors and seniors enrolled in Packaging Engineering or Materials Science programs. DDL identifies qualified interns through an application and interview process. During this process, a team of managers assess a student’s knowledge gained through their education, communication skills, self motivation and their interest in DDL, Inc. Our internships are typically 6 months in duration and run January – August and June- December. DDL continually seeks interns that fit this profile. We encourage full-time internships but part-time internships will be considered. In the past 10 years we have had 15 interns in our program and 9 of them have accepted full-time employment with DDL. Who We Are DDL, Inc. is a one-stop shop for medical product, process and package testing validation. DDL has been in the medical device package, product and material testing industry for over 20 years. What We Do Our professional engineers and technicians provide reliable, quality-assured testing services and documentation throughout every step of the critically important testing and validation process. DDL’s Product & Materials Division is located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and compliments the packaging testing services offered by DDL. ![]() The “Stuff” The Package Is Made Of The Product & Materials Division tests the actual materials that are used to create packaging. This includes the plastics, films, corrugated, adhesives, cushioning and corrugated materials generally used by Packaging Engineers. Most tests are done to international standards such as ASTM, ISO and Tappi. Typical tests include:
The “Stuff” In the Package The Product & Materials Division also tests the medical devices protected by the package. Many of the devices are found in medical facilities ranging from doctors’ offices to hospital operating rooms. These devices include syringes, needles, small bore connectors, guidewires, and catheters. DDL’s also tests a variety of other medical devices such as pumps, implantables, electronics, carts, drapes, tubing and connectors. Typical tests for medical devices include:
